Sandblasting Protective Equipment
Sandblasting operations involve high-speed abrasive particles, dust, noise and extreme temperature fluctuations, which pose severe threats to operators’ respiratory systems, eyes, facial skin and physical comfort. Complete sandblasting protective equipment serves as the core barrier to eliminate occupational hazards. Standard protective sets mainly consist of sandblasting helmets, air filter units and temperature controllers. Proper sorting, regular inspection and standardized maintenance of these three key components are essential to guarantee stable protective performance, extend service life and comply with workplace safety regulations.
1. Sandblasting Helmet: Primary Full-Face Protection
The sandblasting helmet is the direct protective gear covering the operator’s head, face, neck and upper shoulders, designed to block abrasive media, fine silica dust and flying debris.
Structural Composition
• Thick wear-resistant canvas or rubber outer shell: Resists impact and abrasion from sand, steel grit and alumina particles.
• Replaceable transparent visor: Made of scratch-resistant polycarbonate with anti-fog coating to maintain clear sight during long working hours.
• Built-in air circulation duct: Delivers clean compressed air from the filter to the inner cavity of the helmet, forming positive pressure to prevent dust infiltration.
• Elastic neck seal and shoulder skirt: Seals gaps between the helmet and work clothes to stop dust from entering the inner space.
2. Air Filter Unit: Respiratory Purification Core
The filter unit connects the air compressor and sandblasting helmet, responsible for removing oil, water, solid dust and harmful vapors from compressed air, supplying breathable clean air to operators.
Core Filter Components
• Primary sediment filter: Traps large water droplets, rust and coarse particles.
• Oil-water separation filter: Eliminates compressor lubricating oil and condensed moisture to prevent respiratory irritation.
• Activated carbon fine filter: Absorbs volatile organic compounds, peculiar odors and trace toxic gases generated during blasting.
3. Temperature Controller: Comfort & Working Efficiency Regulator
Long-duration sandblasting creates harsh working environments: high heat builds up inside the helmet in summer, while cold compressed air causes frostbite and discomfort in winter. The temperature controller adjusts the temperature of supplied breathing air to maintain a comfortable inner helmet environment.
Working Principle
The device integrates heating and cooling modules. It preheats cold compressed air in low-temperature conditions and dissipates heat to lower air temperature in hot weather, stabilizing output air temperature within a safe, comfortable range of 16–28°C. It also features overheat and overcurrent protection to prevent equipment malfunctions.
